5 Time-Tested Steps to Writing Articles that Get Read
Writing a great article is not the easiest thing in the world but it’s not rocket science either. Once you know the keys to writing interest generating articles you will have taken major strides toward a successful article marking career.
You do not need to be an English professor or have a degree in journalism to write interesting and informative articles that get results. Here are the 5 steps that you need to follow to write articles that grab the attention of your readers.
1.) Write a Killer headline.
Your headline needs to stand up and scream “Read Me.” Think of how most people read the newspaper. They skim the headlines and then read the ones that caught their attention. Article Marketing works exactly the same way.
Some classic headlines use a “How to” approach. “How to Suck in Traffic with Every Article You Write” is a fine example of this approach.
Another time tested approach is to use a “Tips” type of headline. An example of this type of headline might be “3 Hot Tips – How to Catch the Big One.”
Yet another type of article is called “against the grain”. “Your Business Will Never Earn a Dime” is a great example of this.
2.) Opening Sentence
Your headline got enough attention to cause a reader to open your article, now you have to keep it. A powerful opening sentence can do just that. Two time-tested and proven ways to do this is to state a fact or ask a question.
If you choose to use a fact be sure that it is a fact about the basis of your article. A question should pique the curiosity of your reader and instill a need to find the answer by reading the rest of the article.
3.) Body of the Article
The purpose of the body of your article is to educate and inform your reader. Use the body to address each problem and follow up with a solution to the problem If you are using a “Tips” format list each tip as a bullet point or sub-heading describing the best way to solve the problem.
4.) Summary and Call to Action
The final paragraph of your article should summarize the information discussed in the body of the article. Always leave your reader with a desire for more information. Use the summary to subtly insinuate that there is always more to learn, and that you are willing to provide that information
5.) Resource Box
Your resource is a valuable piece of real estate and I am baffled as to why it is not utilized better. You need a powerful resource box. This gives the reader a way to get more information.
An effective resource box includes your name, what you have to offer the reader, and a link to your website.
Make use of these 5 steps to create high quality, informative articles that will make people want to read them and visit your website.
